Secretary General JIH takes part in TV debate on Bhagwad Gita

New Delhi: Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Engineer Muhammad Salim took part in a TV debate (23rd December 2015) on the statement of the Education Minister of Rajasthan to make the teaching of Bhagwad Gita mandatory in schools. Engineer Salim said that: ‘’All religious books are highly respectable and our country is multi-religious. We the people of India have made a Constitution for ourselves in which we decided that India will be a secular country in which all religions will be equally respected. The State will not give precedence and priority to a particular religion over others. It is regrettable to find that a minister who has taken the oath of office on the Constitution that is tied to the principle of secularism and who represents people of all religions and sects of India, if that minister talks of only one religious book then it goes against the spirit of the constitution. The ones who say that morality can be sought only by one religious text have a fascist mindset.’’ The debate was aired on the IBN7 Hindi channel see link >
